A great innovation in the world of reading has been materialized through the effort of Amazon. Readers now experience the shift from the paper-made books at the online or offline bookstores to the electronically controlled Kindle eBook Reader. With this latest eBook reader, customers need not wait in line. Kindle is a thoughtful way of protecting the environment by lessening the cutting of trees that are used to make papers.

Its wireless delivery system is highly appreciated as it serves as the Internet connection of the device to possibly download thousands of books online. Customers can directly shop, order and purchase book content right on Kindle eBook reader with the use of Whispernet. Unlike the other ways of downloading things, personal computer is not a must to be able to do so and you don’t need a hotspot area to perform the download. With Whispernet, you can be anywhere within the country for the Internet connection.

The traditional ways of reading through books, newspapers, magazines and others have already been enhanced into something which loads up so much content in just one portable eBook reader. The interesting thing about this product is that customers can download the first few pages of the books for sample reading prior to finalizing the deal. Aside from that, they also offer a free trial subscription for newspapers. Where to buy Kindle is not a problem because it is always available at Amazon’s online shopping site.

Kindle eBook reader is definitely user-friendly. It won’t result to any eye problems because it is purposely made to be crisp and natural to read on like what everyone got used to reading the paper books. The impressive features of this eBook reader include the smart automatic cross-device bookmarking and annotation, fast page turn, adjustable text size, text-to-speech and the immediate on-screen dictionary.

The processing time upon doing the download is very quick; you can absolutely get the books you want in just a matter of few minutes. Additionally, Amazon did the upgrade on the processor of the product so that the screen will refresh around 20% quicker between page turns. Furthermore, it has the ability to load up to 1,500 books or the different classified newspaper and blog subscriptions, including the JPEG images.

Choosing to buy Amazon kindle is a blessing because it lessens family expenses and saves a lot of time because you no longer have to visit at the store for the books. If you travel a lot and you don’t stay long at one place, the best option for you is to have the device so you don’t have to bring with you your favourite weighty books. It is going to be a completely different reading experience for both the avid and the occasional readers.

It’s not surprising that the Amazon Kindle is generally rated as the top Kindle eBook Reader.

The world is constantly changing and innovation is inevitable. We’ve recently changed the way that books are being read and purchased with the eBook readers. For those who are new to the subject there are various styles and brands of the electronic eBook reader. The most dominant being the amazon kindle. Some prefer the Sony PRS-505 but the Kindle has taken over the market and continue to grow.

Pros of the Kindle

*Wireless- Its 3G wireless features allow you to download books directly to the device anywhere at anytime without fees or contracts.

*Speedy Downloads-Its speedy downloads allow you to download an entire book in under 60 seconds without using a PC.

*Lengthy Battery Life-Allows you to go numerous days without charging.

*Read to Me-Has a function which allows any book, magazine, PDF, Web page or blog to be read aloud by the kindle unless disabled by the book’s rights holder.

Cons of the Kindle Electronic eBook Reader

*Fragile Design-Although its sleek design is appealing beware if dropped its display may be ruined.

*Poor Screen Contrast-There has been complaints of its poor screen contrast and inability to adjust the contrast. There are also complaints of its poor display of pictures which ties in with poor contrast.

*Poor Battery Life Indicator-Although the Kindle Electronic eBook reader can last for days without being charged you can barely see the battery life indicator making it difficult to know when it needs to be charged.

Overall i insist that the Kindle eBook reader is a great product. When you think about how much space and money is being saved from purchasing eBooks the pros outweigh the cons. I would recommend this product to anyone who is in search of an electronic eBook reader.

It seems as if everyone these days is trying to simplify their lives and even Oprah is no exception. With our busy lifestyles that include traveling from here to there, the eBook Reader is something that any one with a busy lifestyle might want to consider. Even Oprah raves about her Kindle and claims that it has saved her the agony of traveling with those heavy books.

If you have been considering the purchase of an eReader then there are a few things you absolutely need to consider before making your final decision. An eBook, of course, is nothing more than a digital file which is the same as the normal printed book except it’s just electronic. Until the roll-out of this technology, eBooks were read through your PC or laptop.

So how does an eBook Reader differ from a PC or a Laptop? With a specialized technology called e-Ink or e-Paper, the eReader is will display text and images that feels almost like it’s on real paper. This helps you prevent eye strain like you usually will experience when reading from a computer screen for extended periods of time. Also, it’s energy efficient and requires very little charging. The only time you are truly straining your battery at any level is when you actually turn a page. And the best part of all, you can read in bright sunlight without any problems.

So let’s look at 9 important factors to take into account when making your purchase:

1. What books are available?

You want to make certain that you have access to all the books that you might want to access through your reader. Consequently, keep in mind, that the Sony store has somewhere around 100,000 books, whereas the Amazon Kindle store has over 280,000 books. Oprah endorsed the Kindle and the choice of books seemed to be one of her most talked about features. It doesn’t do you much good to find a really great eBook reader if there are no books to read!

2. Pay Close Attention to the Display.

Since you are going to be spending a lot of hours reading books it is important that the display is comfortable to the eyes. So what do we need to consider. First of all take a look at the size of the screen. Standard size is 6” but most people prefer a little larger than this and the Fujitsu Flepia offers 8” and the new Kindle DX a whopping 9.7”.

Also keep in mind if you are going to view a lot of graphics you might want to also consider the gray scale. The standard is about 8 gray scales. The Flepia, however, offers a touch screen with the capability for 260,000 colors. At $1000 you pay for it! The BeBook by Dutch company Endless Ideas offer multiple fonts that can be changed as you read (except in PDF format), and three levels of zoom.

3. Long Battery Life is a Big Deal.

It’s not much fun to have to recharge your device every couple of house. You should be able to experience around 7000 page turns before recharging. The Flepia by Fujitsu offer 40 hours of continuous use on one charge and Sony’s PRS-505 gives you an average 6,800 page turns, and the Kindle DX four days on wireless.

4. Size Matters.

Size is extremely important if you travel a lot. It’s imperative that the Ebook Reader be portable. You have to find a happy medium between the reader taking up too much room and it being large enough to read easily. The average weight is about 10 ounces, but the BeBook weighs in at only 7.8 ounces (220 grams).

5. Make Sure the Reader Supports Various Types of File Formats.

Some only support very specific file formats. Case in point is the Amazon Kindle 2 which doesn’t support PDF Files. It does however offer an option that lets you convert PDF files into a Kindle format. The Sony PRS-700 does support PDF files, Doc files and others. The iRex iLiad supports PDF, XHTML, Mobipocket and plain text, and can also display BMP, PNG and JPEG images, though not in color. It also has stereo speakers giving it audio book capability. The Kindle 2 also offers text to speech capability. The Kindle 2 does not support PDF, but the Kindle DX can read native PDF files.

6. Can You Go Wireless?

Again, this is strictly a personal choice but one that more and more consumers are demanding. It’s definitely worth considering, and the iLiad and Kindle 2 have wireless connectivity, as does the Flepia with wireless Bluetooth and wifi.

7. What Type of Warranty Is Offered?

As with any new technology introduced into the marketplace, bugs and glitches are often prevalent at first. Therefore, it would be worthwhile to have at least a one year warranty just in case. You can, of course, also always purchase the extended warranty where offered.

8. Have You Reviewed the Testimonials?

It’s always important to see what other users think about a piece of equipment. Since many of these eBook Readers are bought online it is relatively simple to find testimonials regarding the various types.

9. How Often Do You Want To Use Your Reader?

Do you want this to replace actual books or do you just want to use the Reader when traveling? This is definitely a consideration and might affect many of the buying decisions discussed above.

In short, the eBook Reader can offer you many options that regular books do not. And although you might want to consider an endorsement from Oprah, she might not always know the best choice for your individual circumstances. So shop around, do your homework and choose the right reader for your specific needs.

There are numerous Universities and Libraries now researching how to revolutionize the way people read and study. The eBook Reader, an electronic device that can easily be carried with an individual like a traditional book, is an integral part of this cutting-edge technology. The Reader is typically smaller than a basic book and reads any documents that you might normally read from a computer. The eReader can hold multiple documents and therefore would totally eliminate the need for students to carry around multiple textbooks at one time.

In addition, students are often working with a number of electronic documents for research projects and this would eliminate the need to access a computer to review the documents. Handouts, term papers, forms, spreadsheets, and a number of other documents are often carried around from place to place by the student. Almost all of the weight of the textbooks could be lightened and almost virtually eliminated by the eReader. They typical machine weighs about 10 ounces – less than one college textbook.

Asked for his views on eBooks in education, Keir Graff, Senior Editor of Booklist Online responded “How long do you have? Personally, I think they make great sense for school and for reference.” (Direct Contact PR)

Listed below are 7 reasons why the Universities should consider converting textbooks to eBook Readers:

Elimination of Certain Health Problems

Back problems are becoming more and more prevalent in young adults and many people in the medical profession are attributing this to book bags. Years of carrying heavy books on one’s back can certainly take its toll – even on the younger, more healthy individual. This could be virtually eliminated with a Reader. Any one who has carried a heavy load for hours at a time can certainly empathize with the desire to lighten one’s load.

Ease of Use

Many people jump to an area of interest in a textbook or a specific assigned chapter. This is not an uncommon practice and is something that would not be prohibited when using a Reader. Current Readers in the marketplace provide great simplicity when searching for a specific topic or scanning for a topic of interest.

Read To Me Feature

Many of the newest machines have a read-to-me feature which offers many advantages to the student of today. If the student is traveling to and from class or simply cooking dinner or doing activity that permits listening, the specific document, lesson, or information could be read aloud to them which would allow for multi-tasking and more production. When traveling long distances in a car, this benefit could be even more effectively utilized.

Great Storage Space

Many of the most popular Readers provide storage space to accommodate around 1500 books. This would allow the student to have textbooks, term papers, research documents, and even novels for pleasure reading all in one simple location.

Sense of Familiarity

Although some baby boomers seem to want to touch and feel the real book, the generation of today, is far more familiar with holding an electronic device in their hand. Thus, the eBook Reader would not only be comfortable but familiar to the college student today.

Create Space in the Dorm Room or Small Apartment

Any student who is trying to figure out how to create more living space in a dormitory or small apartment would certainly appreciate the benefits of a Reader. No longer would students sharing an area have to find a place to locate all those textbooks, papers, and documents when space is already at a premium.

Cost

By producing eBooks, the university could reduce their overall cost. Ebooks would not wear out like textbooks, nor would the university have to be concerned about books being sold back or leased books returned. This cost savings could be passed down to the student.

Although there are still a few issues to be worked out with having eBook Readers for college students, the pros probably by far outweigh the cons. One issue that is being considered is how one might be able to simulate highlighting or writing in certain areas of the eBook. Many users would find that appealing since it is a study technique that has been utilized for many generations.

Another issue is of copyright and lending from university libraries. The Harold B. Lee Library, the main campus library of Brigham Young University, has acquired Amazon Kindles as a pilot for lending to students. One of the problems is that Amazon states that it is not permitted to lend them, and although Amazon reps have verbally given the nod, this was not put in writing.

According to John Biggs, Technology Writer for The New York Times, “eBooks are the future. The Kindle and devices like it will replace printed text in the next 30 years.”

Only time will tell whether John is right, and whether or not the universities are willing to totally implement cutting edge technology such as the eBook Reader. Their terms of use could be key in their decision. One thing is for sure, however: the changes it would provide for the students are immense and vast, and certainly worth consideration.

Nowadays, almost everything in this world relies on digital technology, even reading. If you are still into buying books and you would like them to travel with you, carrying them around would not be that easy. But, if you have your own electronic book reader, bring books anytime, anywhere would be possible. You can even bring thousands of books with you if you want to. This time around, you can enjoy reading books wherever you are and whenever you want to. However, the challenge here is to find the right ebook reader that would meet your needs. You definitely would like to find the right one because you don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on one that doesn’t meet your needs. If you’re looking for the cheapest price for an ebook reader, you won’t find one that only costs a hundred bucks or so. You would need to spend a little over $200. With this amount, you’ll be able to purchase a typical ereader which has the basic features. However, this price may not be enough to get one that has a longer battery life and you probably might have to get a more advanced model. For better options, you may have to spend about $500. One of the advanced models that you may come across is the Kindle DX, which has some of the best features in an e-reader. The more you pay for the device the better features you get. Another high-end alternative that has a lot of add-ons packed in is the Flepia which may costs more than $1000.If your device doesn’t come with all the features you need, you’re just wasting your money. Make sure the battery will last for as long as you need it to. Also be sure to try the device out before you buy it. Each one uses a different kind of screen and you want to make sure it doesn’t wear out your eyes. While the most expensive ereaders come with the most features, that doesn’t necessarily make them the best ebook readers.More often, what is left unnoticed when it comes to its features is the reader’s file compatibility. For example, not all readers are capable of reading PDF files, which is one of the most popular file format nowadays. This would then limit the libraries that you may get your ebooks from. If you opt to use Sony readers, they would have a library which has about a hundred thousand books, while Amazon’s Kindle would allow you to gain access to over 250,000 books. It doesn’t have to be a difficult process to choose an ereader, you just have to know what to look for. Getting the most expensive model may not be the wisest choice for you. While the Flepia may come with a really nice touch screen, can you really justify spending $1,000 on it? That is a question that only you can answer. No one can make the decision about which one is correct for you except for you. Don’t just look for the one with the most features, the best ebook reader is the one that suits your needs without breaking your budget.

The Amazon Kindle, Amazon’s foray into hand held e-book reading devices, was released in November. The reader splashed onto the scene with a cover photo on Newsweek and Amazon hoped the Kindle would do for digital-reading-on-the-go what the ipod did for digital music. That is, make it a viable concept and business, replete with enthusiastic users.
However, there’s not a whole lot of evangelizing going on around the Kindle.
Some people appreciate the palm-sized smallness of the Kindle, while others deride its small keyboard and awkwardly designed casing. The opinions are mixed and there are plenty of them.
Once you have the Kindle, you can visit Amazon’s e-book store, where you can purchase brand new books for $9.99, which is a discount from what new hardcovers generally cost. Even though in this proposition you don’t end up owning a tangible tree-made book, you get to enjoy the reading of it. But that brings up a principal issue for e-book readers.
Do people want to read books the same way they read blogs and news stories, via a computer screen? A lot of the issues that people have had with the Kindle–that’s it’s ugly, that the black and white screen isn’t up to par, that the keyboard and scroll wheel aren’t that well designed, and that it’s too expensive–may stem from the fact that reading books on the Kindle e-book reader is not the same as reading a paper-bound book. The experience is not the same.
You get the information, but part of the joy is stripped from the experience. Another issue is that we expect a lot out of our hand held devices these days. The iphone has set a new standard–and that’s a phone.
An e-book reader should have a high degree of interactivity with other Kindle owners that are friends. It should look as advanced and appealing as an iphone. It should be able to do most of what a high-tech cell phone can do in addition to the e-book reading functionality. It seems like it does too little if you can’t use it to access maps, the yellow pages, and search engines. For $399, it should do some of these things. At the very least, you should be able to do Internet searches.
Computers have become so intertwined in our work and personal lives, that it seems logical that an e-book reader would be the next step. And maybe it is. But it shouldn’t just be an e-book reader. It should be an e-book reader and a cell phone. I think the Kindle’s designers misread the psychology of an e-book reader.
It’s not bibliophiles who will be using this thing. It’s the geek who wants his hand-held device to do more for him than he expects, and that he can wow his friends who don’t have one.
Surprisingly or unsurprisingly, the Amazon Kindle is sold out. Or at least that’s what it says on Amazon.
The Kindle makes sense on paper. But that’s the problem.

You might have heard that making money by writing your own ebook is a great way to earn an income these days. The trouble is, it can be so hard to set up your own website to sell that book and actually get people to come to the website. If you don’t have traffic, you’re not going to sell anything! There is an easier way! You can write books that will be published on Amazon Kindle. While this might seem like something that is far out of your reach, it definitely is not. As long as you can write, publishing on the Kindle can be a great income stream for you. In fact, this is perfect for teachers, entrepreneurs, business people, and many others!First of all, it’s helpful to understand how the Kindle marketplace functions before you understand how you can make your mark there. Basically, when someone has a Kindle they are able to use their reader to browse through book selections. When they find one they want, they simply select that book and make their purchase. They don’t need to bother with their computer or Internet connection, or anything like that. You can benefit from this by being at the other end of things selling the book to the Kindle customers. Amazon allows you to become a publisher, effectively putting your ebook in their marketplace for sale. When someone buys your work, you make a sale!Listen, you know that your writing is good and that you have something important to say. Unfortunately, not all of us can get book publishing deals. Even if you’re just trying to market online, you know the headaches that come with that. When you’re an Amazon publisher you are using the power of their website and Kindle system. In fact, you don’t really need to worry about anything as you get to take full advantage of their traffic as well. There are thousands upon thousands of people who are using the Kindle (which is why it’s sold out all the time!) so there is no reason you shouldn’t be able to make money by being a publisher. All you need to do is believe in yourself and your ability to write and deliver good content for people. It is best to do some research before you get started, and to see how other people have had success selling on Kindle. That way you can rest assured that you won’t be wasting your time running into dead ends as you get started. That isn’t to say that it has to be difficult, because it definitely doesn’t!Writing ebooks gives you an amazing sense of accomplishment. There is no reason for you to end up discouraged just because you’re finding it hard to get a website up and traffic to that site. Amazon can really cut some corners for you with their Kindle marketplace, making it a lot easier for you to earn an income by selling your ebooks there.

The Amazon Kindle is one of the hottest portable ebook readers on the market right now. See it in action by watching the video and full Amazon Kindle 2.0 review here. Afterwards, you’ll have a better understanding what it’s all about and why publishing ebooks for it is so lucrative.

The Amazon Kindle cover that comes with the electronic reading device is rather inadequate with some things that will annoy someone who’s just spent a several hundred dollars on a high-quality piece of electronics. The original Kindle cover had even more problems, but the latest incarnation, still leaves some things that the Kindle owner might find annoying.
The most common complaint with the cover that comes with the Kindle, is the way that it keeps the eBook reader in place. While it has two slots, which you can slip your eBook reader into, there is a tendency for it to slip out, and if you’re not careful, it could hit the floor. As we know with all electronics, this is not an ideal circumstance. Many workarounds involving Velcro in strategic places have been suggested to keep the Kindle in one place when a person is reading.
There have also been a number of very good aftermarket companies offering stylish, high-quality solutions to the Kindle cover quagmire. Three higher quality brands are Strangedog, Stylzworld and Noreveusa
Amazon also has a new cover coming out at the end of the November called the M-edge cover, which is much anticipated. There are 12 different models that are genuine leather in various colors and compatible with an e-Luminator book light. If you own a Kindle, you’ll immediately recognize how a book light that connects and doesn’t wobble is a good investment for your Electronic Reading Device. There are also non-leather “Leisure Jackets” that sell for less, but on the whole the M-edge is a luxurious addition to the Kindle cover arena.
Strangedog
Strangedog offers handmade covers that are both beautiful and custom. He only makes a couple in each style and each is very well crafted and durable. He offers the Velcro option to hold the Kindle in place, and will even take fabric from the customer in order to make a cover to spec. There is a waiting period as he only makes a limited number of these per week. Strangedog take pride in his hand made covers, and the level of craftsmanship is excellent. In this plug-n-play world, Strangedog is a one of a kind vendor who prides his work over mass production.
Stylzworld
Stylzworld offers a cover that is made of unique cognac brown leather with a sparkling design on the inside. It is genuine leather, tri-fold cover that has cutouts for credit, business and memory cards as well as other types of documents. It has an innovative holding system as well as a cutout in the back for the on/off buttons. You will have to contact them if you live in the United States as they are currently looking for distributors and are mainly located in Europe.
Noreveusa
A traditional leather case/cover is offered from Noreveusa and comes in 3 colors. It has a clasp that closes and holds the Kindle steady. It has the same problems presented with the original Kindle, although the clasp and leather make it a nice Kindle cover to consider.
Amazon offers a few different cases that will protect your Kindle if a cover isn’t what you’re looking for. These other options include a Neoprene Sleeve Case with a screen protector, a travel package that includes a leather case and travel book light, and a black neoprene case that’s good for travel. However according to the word in the Kindle forum, it appears that most people are waiting on the M-edge genuine leather executive case as the best buy in Kindle covers for Christmas.
